Hillsong ft. Holly Dawson - "I give you my heart"
“I hate those who cling to worthless idols; as for me, I trust in the Lord.” Psalm 31:6
“He pulled down the altars the kings of Judah had erected on the roof near the upper room of Ahaz, and the altars Manasseh had built in the two courts of the temple of the Lord. He removed them from there, smashed them to pieces and threw the rubble into the Kidron Valley.” 2 Kings 23:12
“Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord.” 2 Kings 2324
Feelings and thoughts are the ones that are the most difficult to control. We have heard many times, “follow your heart, let it guide you” and at the moment this may sound romantic because is giving you the “freedom” to do what your heart is calling you to do. The bible says in Jeremiah 17:9 that the “heart is deceitful above all things and beyond care” this means God knows that if we let our emotions guide us through life we will end up lost with a huge necessity to be found.
There are situations where some specific thoughts will be occupying your mind more than they have too. God loves us, but He is a jealous God too and doesn’t want us to worship any other god but Him. You may be worrying about a specific situation, maybe you got a bad grade in school and you are still blaming your teacher or you are don't know how to tell your parents you are not doing good at school, maybe you fought with a friend and have anger and resentment in your heart, or you lost someone you love and you are letting sadness and depression get into your heart or you are doing something that is taking you away from your intimacy with God.
My dear friend all those feelings, worries, situations and things you are doing are placing God in a different position than the one that He wants to have in your life, are idols that we must overthrow. Josiah the king of Jerusalem had this problem once, he found out Jerusalem was having a life full of immorality and sin and when he found the book of law, he tore his robes, surrendered and repent, recognizing God as the one and only. After this he began to clean the entire city he pulled down the altars and get rid of every idol and everything that didn’t come from God. It’s time for you to asked the Holy Spirit for those idols you have in your life that you must get rid off, it’s time to clean God’s temple. It’s time to place God right where he has to be, at the center of your life. In prayer my friend asked the Holy Spirit to guide you in your intimacy with God, he knows what your soul needs and he will be able to place that necessity in your heart in order for you to move forward to finish the race. Never forget He is here to help you, He created you and you must be confident that who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ. My sister trust the Lord.
Prayer:
- Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you
- Ask God which are the idols that you must get rid off
- Thank Him for opening your eyes and let Him know that He is the ONLY God in your life
- Ask for protection over His temple (your body)
- Finish your prayer by saying: In Jesus name, Amen.
